Assessment as Research Symposium
Annually, the Campus Working Group on Assessment (CWGA) organizes the Assessment as Research Symposium as part of Research Week, the campus' annual celebration of research activity.
Although assessment is action research, as opposed to resarch to advance knowledge more generally, assessment's inclusion in Research Week emphasizes its inherent synergy with the inquiry-oriented nature of a research university - an alignment that forms the foundation for UC Merced's Principles of Assessment .
Each year, the symposium attracts a broadly representative group of presenters, faculty, staff, and students whose talks and posters describe their work assessing student learning, and success. To learn more, follow the side-bar links to the left. In many instances, presentation materials are provided.
Fedback on the symposium has been overwhelmingly positive. Following the 2015 event,
- 91% of survey respondents strongly agreed or agreed that the presentations and posters were informative, and
- 97% said they would like to see an event like this again.
The CWGA looks forward to continuing the tradition, and encourages you to join our next event - as a presenter or audience member - to advance UC Merced's mission of teaching, research and service.
